Sara White of Thunder Valley wins the 2018 LNS Volunteer of the Year
Congratulations Sara White of the Valley Thunder as the 2018 LNS Volunteer of the year. Sara, would say she has a great team around her but her leaderships has been a driving force of the growth in the Valley region.
Volunteer of the Year: Sara White
Sara White is the President of Valley Thunder Lacrosse Association, the only Lacrosse Club in the Annapolis Valley. Sara began in her position two years ago, and has been a tireless promoter and champion for the sport in her community/region.
Sara is one of the most selfless people you will ever meet, never ceasing to lend assistance to those in her community in need. She has dedicated a large portion of her personal life towards the sport, and if you ever ask her for her motivation behind the countless hours she spends, here answer is always the same - “To give kids a chance to play the sport”.
Sara has been instrumental in growing the numbers of Valley Thunder over the past two seasons, and are hoping to have close to 100 registered in 2019! Some programs that Sara has been an instrumental part of introducing the sport of lacrosse to new kids across the Annapolis Valley, being an integral part of the creation of ‘Try It’, as well as collaborating with Canning Recreation to get Lacrosse programming in their Multi-Sport Program this Winter/Spring.
One of Sara’s greatest achievements to-date came about recently in the establishment of the Scotia Minor Lacrosse League. A proponent of trying to get her club more games within Nova Scotia, Sara is a part of the leadership group which has helped to form this new league, which will provide organized play activity for lacrosse athletes from the Annapolis Valley, Truro, Pictou, and Cape Breton.
